CHATacademy expands opportunities for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students, medical students, clinical fellows and junior faculty to receive didactic, experiential and research instruction as well as personalized mentoring as a Center of Excellence (COE) Scholar. CHATacademy increases diversity in academic medicine and health care practice by:
- Expanding the pool of qualified minority candidates applying to medicine (MCAT scores and admission rates into medical schools) through courses, activities and mentoring.
- Improving performance of minority medical students (outcomes: increasing graduation rates and USMLE scores).
- Introducing them to research exposure early so that they can see value in academic medicine.
